It sucked me in though, and the...” see full review » see other reviews » |

I really didn't get any sense of their relationship. In the end after all these stories Sylvia told I had no idea who she was, she seemed almost as one dimensional as Henry. I wanted to like this book more than I did. 2 1/2 stars.”

I kept wanting to hear the song, the music of the author's words, the quirky humor. However, I was longing for one character who had strength enough to live a productive life, a life full of awareness and purpose. I was still looking when I reached the final depressing sentence. Every single character is flawed to the point of missing the point of life, or not even looking, or not even caring. They are all on the verge of imploding upon themselves and evolving into black holes. ”

The book did take a chapter or two to hook me, but I am glad that I stayed with it. Finishing it was so worth it, and by the end I really had come to love everything about the book -- even the style quirk of inserting so many italicized lyrics, slogans and the like in the middle of a sentence. Stay with this one, you won't be sorry.”
