This book is great. I love all of Janette Oke's series. The main character is Elizabeth who is strong, independent, caring, and devoted. She is ready to challenge anything that comes her way.

I love the stories in this book. Maybe because the female main charater is also named Elizabeth. It is a sweet, loving story about two people and God.

Janette Oke may never qualify as fabulous literature, but she certainly supplies something that modern literature is lacking: a sense of hope. Her characters face seemingly insurmountable odds and always hang on to their sense of hope and faith.

In a world populated with stories of death and destruction, memoirs of the bitter and disenfranchised, and treatises of the entitled, it is refreshing to read of a pioneer people that took hard work for granted, loved one another despite the difficulties, and kept their faith through it all.

If you are in need of a little hope, pick up this book . . .

I loved these books in my teens and they are still a good read. The setting is interesting and the struggle to live by faith is well described. Now that I am living in a foreign culture I can better relate to the struggles presented in these books.
