This started out very good although the abuse Jake suffered was awful to read about. His meeting with Emma was colored with violence and grief but still managed to hook me into the story. One problem I had was with the character of Emma. She just seemed a little too perfect, always baking bread or cookies, everyone except the villains liked her. It was just a little too Stepford wife-y for me. The fighting scenes and the intimate scenes between Jake and Emma were just a little too long for my tastes. After a while it just seemed like so much page filler and didn't add anything to the story.
