The cover makes it look like a ridiculous Harlequin novel or something but this series is fabulous. The cover for the first two books were beautiful, I don't know what happened. The first in the series is Silent in the Grave.

3rd in the series. She follows her gypsy detective out to his new estate and finds all in rare form. Can't wait for the next one!

While a bit long, and the usual dark and brooding tale from Raybourn, this is a great and convoluted mystery. Raybourn does manage to come up with the most reprehensible themes and deeds, setting the reader up to suspect half the characters before she is through. The author is very skillful at creating an atmosphere that I can truly feel: the moors, the desolation, the horror and fear. More than her other books, this feels very "Bronte". I'm always amazed at the skill of an American writer developing such an English story. I highly recommend this series.

I liked it, but missed the family interplay so prevalent in the second book.

Interesting little book, but sometimes annoying...pretty formulaic. The interplay with Brisbane is getting a little old.

After being disappointed with Silent in the Sanctuary I was thrilled with this installment of the Lady Julia Grey mystery series.

I'm doing the Wandeca Happy Dance! Yeah! I loved the book! I LOVED THE BOOK! Squee!

What's not to love about this book? It's set in the Yorkshire moors, Lady Julia has a knack for finding trouble and a curiosity that matches that knack, Brisbane a man that oozes sexuality that has a troubling past, there's family secrets, mumified babies, an interesting Gypsy woman and a hidden treasure. Plus it's written by Deanna Raybourn. I was hooked right at the beginning and the pull to read it didn't end until the last page, and even then I didn't want it to end. I want more! Please!

I highly recommend this book! You have to go out and get it! What are you waiting for? Do it now!

I enjoy this series. This one was a bit creepier than the others. The setting was spooky and the family was crazy. The ending was great!
