But Bagheera, a black panther, realizes that as Mowgli becomes a man, the dangers of him living among the jungle denizens will increase - especially because the tiger, Sher Khan feels threatened by Mowgli's presence; so, Bagheera seeks to return Mowgli to the world of humans.
