I like this, it would be five star if not so dense.

I love Kipling's work, generally speaking, and this was quite delightful.

I re-discovered these stories to read to my son. We have spent many wonderful evenings wrapped up in Kaa's scales and watching RikiTikiTavi scurry about the bungalow in Segowle. I have also enjoyed other stories on my own, it is hard to own up to being completely taken in by a children's story but I have.

It was a great book! Little did I know that all the stories weren't only about Mowgli. I recently watched the movie starring Jason Scott Lee, and I loved it so well combined with my great love for The Graveyard Book and it IS classic children's literature and I AM an English major, so it all culminated. Great book. I think everyone should read it.

The original Jungle book is a collection of short stories--the Mowgli in the jungle story being the longest--but also includes Riki-Tiki-Tavi and several others. Vastly different from the Disney version, (surprise, surprise) but very interesting and fun to read.
