“The only thing that would have made this book better is if the first two Harry Hole novels had been translated into English so I could have read them first.”see full review » see other reviews »

“Still reading, still enjoying this atmospheric novel. characters are leanly drawn and a killer operating with deadly precision. Some find it hard to gel with the flashbacks of WWII and the slow parts sometimes the experience an effort rather than an entertaining ride. In summary: I enjoy Neso's Harry Hole novels and this won't be the last. Recommended to me by my brother who is an avid fan!”C M.T. Stibbe wrote this review 5 days ago. “Listening to on my iPod, Back and forth from World War II, Norwegians who are fighting at the Eastern Front with the Germans to 2000 where Harry is looking for an unknown person who bought a Macklin rifle which is virtually unstoppable. Neo Nazis. Lots of twists and turns. Lots of violence against women in Scandinavian literature”ML wrote this review Thursday, October 3, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Konačno Nesbo koji mi se svidio, nadam se da će i ostale biti dobre poput ovog, jer su me prve dvije prilično razočarale.”Amila wrote this review Friday, August 23, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“It took me very long to get into this book. I started reading it about three times, and somehow managed to get some of it done. When returning to it, I realised I had not taken anything in: several strands of events are described alongside each other without an obvious connection that surely would be coming later but didn't make it easier to get into it for the time being.
But when I finally got into it, it was an absolute page-turner that I couldn't stop.
Sticking with it really pays off!”
“A very complex mystery. I like the main character, Detective Harry Hole.”DoriJSmith wrote this review Wednesday, July 10, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“This book was enjoyable but having read The Snowman first (this book comes before The Snowman in the series) I can see that Nesbo honed his writing. I think there may have been some awkward translation (from Norwegian) in this novel that wasn't an issue in The Snowman.”Hannah F wrote this review Tuesday, May 21, 2013. “Okay, NOW I see what all the fuss is about. For me, The Redbreast was the best of Nesbo's mysteries. Very interesting, complicated plot with many flashbacks to WWII and the Norwegians who served with the Germans on the Eastern front.”Danamanian wrote this review Wednesday, April 24, 2013.
