Another excellent book by this author. Good characters and an education on the history of China as well.

So far so good--Tragic tale but very historically accurate, I think. Tragic, tragic, tragic --not so much YA as I usually read but, if you are interested in history, you will like this book.

This was just as good as Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. It was also just as difficult to read of the way women and baby girls are treated in China.

Did not like the ending. I think the ending was too abrupt. Not satisfying at all. I do agree that was better than Peony in Love and not as good as Snow Flower and Secret Fan. Overall I did like the book.

Good story and good insight into what it may have been like to be a Chinese immigrant in 1938.
