This book takes the reader on a journey to explore a young girl's life. Mia Hall is very close to death after a car crash that killed the rest of her family. Seeing everything from outside her unconscious body, she thinks about the most important moments in her life up to the present, including her relationship with her family, her best friend Kim, meeting her loving boyfriend Adam and the course of their relationship, her passion for the cello and classical music, and the many good and bad times shes had over the course of her life so far. She's torn between living or dying, leaving her boyfriend or staying with him, joining her family or living without them. Every moment counts, every thought makes her choice easier and harder. You become more and more emotionally attached as the tear-jerking backstories lead up to the present. Brilliantly written.

You guys seemed, still seem, in love, truly, deeply. But seventeen is such an inconvenient time to be in love.”
    Mom
  • “Just listen. Stay.”
