“It's ok - certainly not bad. I didn't think it was as good as MHC's novels she writes on her own”

There is just too much going on and too many characters in this short book to make a whole lot of sense. Coincidences abound and sometimes they are so far-fetched that it is jarring.

A time for lots of food and lots of sweets. And if you are a reader of this book, then you DEFINITELY have the sweets- sickenly sweet. I have made it a point of reading the Clarks Holiday books almost every X-mas (when they are available and I can get a copy). And this year was no exception. Now, it has been a few years since I last read of other books- 4 yrs, to be exact. (And in reality, I first started reading them back in 1999). But it is like visiting that Aunt that just can’t STOP sticking her nose into your life, trying to find out all that has been going on with you. This book, though, REALLY pushed the limits of what I am willing to set aside, for the sake of a story. (And remember, I’m the guy who reads Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Sci Fi novels, so suspension of belief is a major part of my reading style). In this latest adventure, a group of coworkers win the lotto, and decided to include the one person who, this one time, didn’t give to the lotto pot. Except this same individual finds out that his numbers, which won the lotto, were used by a pair of scam artists to win as well. Throw in a surprise visit from an internet girlfriend (who has a secret herself), a town hoping to capitalize on their 1st annual holiday celebration, a shocking surprise at a B&B and no annual holiday bonus, and the reader is taken on an adventure that- well, it is one that you just want to go “enough is enough…”.
Yeah, the book is only ok- but as a holiday traditionalist, I had to sit and read it. But I would only recommend it to anyone who is REALLY committed to reading either of the Clark’s books or someone looking to kill a few hours on a lazy X-mas afternoon, before or after a meal.

“A nice Christmas cozy detective read”

I could have endured that kind of writing had she been a nobody, but the title, ah, it just seemed undeserved. ”
