I read lots of horror and although this is not horror in the sense of monsters, but rather what one human can do to another. And I think I would rather battle a monster than some of the characters in this novel! The story is a non-stop horror rollercoaster ride. You will go to bed with the lights on, the security alarm set and a gun or baseball bat within easy reach. And to really add to the excitement, the writing is clear, vivid and intelligent. But be warned, it is gruesome and not for the faint of heart. I can't wait for more from Jack Kilborn!

It is not very often I call a book amazing. This book is more then amazing. It is brilliant, unputdownable, fast-paced, scary, chilling. It will leave you frightened to death.

The story takes place in a small town in Wisconsin called Safe Haven. The residents there are just your average everyday people. A helicopter carrying an army of special ops force crashes and the town becomes a battlefield in a short few hours.

After reading the first chapter, I was completely engrossed in this book. I started it in the evening and was up half the night and this is not the type of book to read at night when you are alone. The villains are brutal. They are killers who kill with no remorse whatsoever. Killing is programmed into them and if their thoughts wander away from the mission, the chip in their brain is rebooted and the mission comes back as being their one and only thought.

Jack Kilborn has written a masterpiece. This is the first time I’ve read his work, and I was amazed at how he described the pain and suffering the characters went through. I felt like I was being tortured and it left cringing. There is no doubt about it, this book is violent. If you do not like violence, do not read it. If you do read it, be prepared for a killer rollercoaster ride. This is one of the best books I have read in a while.

This is a action packed edge of the seat gory thriller. A helicopter crash sets loose a pack of military enhanced killers that have no conscious and no limits on what they will do or kill to get what they have came after. Safe haven, Wisconsin is miles from anywhere and has only one road in and out of town. It takes a single mother with a strong will to live and to protect her son, a firefighter that wants to make a difference and a wily old sheriff to stop and save what's left of the town of Safe Haven. It is a book that will scare the stuffing out of you and leave you wondering if it could really happen. For anyone loving action, gore and military style action and civilians that beat them at their own game then this is the book for you. The guys in the white hats do win in the this book.

The beginning sounded like quite a good thriller, but then got into military ops, but was still a good read.

Scary, goose bump inducing roller coaster of a ride book! Loved it, and could not put it down. I have found a new author to love.

The action occurs in an isolated town in Wisconsin called Safe Haven, one road in and one road out. Law enforcement consists of one sheriff, the fire department has 2 firefighters and one truck. The town is anything but a safe haven when a team of special ops arrives under cover of darkness on a sinister mission to isolate, terrorize and annihilate, the whole town if they have to. One of the residents has a dark secret and they won't stop until they find him.

Horror or thriller, I don't which category this falls into, a little of both I think. The action starts early and keep building in intensity. It is a thrill ride from start to finish. At point I was wondering how anyone would still be alive at the end, then I started to wonder if anyone would be alive at the end. The plot had some very unexpected twists and a shocking conclusion.

This book is not for the weak hearted, if you are not a fan of horror and do not like being scared by what you read this book is definitely not for you, there is a lot of graphic, gory violence in it.
