The Herbert classic deserves all the praise it's gotten since its publication in 1965, because it truly is a tremendous work of fiction. Playing out more like a Shakespearean play or a Greek tragedy, the story of Maud'dib, his mother Jessica, the planet of Arrakis and all the political strife and struggles of the men and creatures who inhabit the waterless desert world is a compelling read from beginning to end. Didn’t Like It

Kind of dry. I liked the concepts when I was younger, and I liked it once, but overall I want to call it a roller coaster book. I mean roller coaster meaning it has a few ups, and many points where it just drops. Slow read, and possibly overrated.
