I thought this memior was fine. Not "extremely interesting," as the Kurt Vonneguts jacket blurb suggests, and certainly not "soul-jarring," as the los angelas times magazine found. Just fine. Its not very reflective, and its not nearly as poetic as his superiors and critics claim- I was suprised how many soldiers enjoy social distortion though. Since when did army service become punk anyway?
