World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

by Max Brooks

“The end was near.” —Voices from the Zombie War

The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Overview: Groups

Audible Books to recommend 249 books / 201 members / 452 posts I thought it would be nice to have a list of books that people have read that are on audible (i.e., downloads from Audible.com, library CDs, etc).

Often I have to go from book review back to Audible.com to see if it's there before I can check it off to my Wish List (right now I am listening to my books for the most part). I don't like cassette tapes, however, and I have seen where a book may be available on tape but not CD or download. Downloads are less expensive, too. Starlet
Apocalypse Lovers 157 books / 282 members / 702 posts O.K. I admit it, I love post-apocalyptic novels. Anything where society has been forever altered whether it is plague, nuclear weapons, aliens, meteors or Good vs. Evil doesn't matter, I just love a good tale where everything has been re-imagined. Come join me and discuss your favorite and not-so-favorite apocalypse novels
Zombie Threat 101 34 books / 63 members / 24 posts This is a group dedicated not only to discussing and celebrating existing zombie literature and lore, but also to debating about our varied survival plans and preparedness for possible outbreaks of "living dead-type" diseases.

Thanks for joining the fight!
50 Book Challenge! 2549 books / 2343 members / 12942 posts When asked about the new Amazon Kindle product, Steve Jobs CEO of Apple computer had this to say:

“It doesn’t matter how good or bad the product is, the fact is that people don’t read anymore,” he said. “Forty percent of the people in the U.S. read one book or less last year. The whole conception is flawed at the top because people don’t read anymore.”

Welcome to the the 50 Book Challenge, where we fly in the face of Steve Jobs.

Basically .... the challenge is to read 50 books in one year. OR ... establish a goal for yourself more or less, it's up to you, just because we say 50 books doesn't mean that has to be your goal too.

Start a thread, WITH YOUR NAME IN THE SUBJECT OF YOUR ORIGINAL POST, and log your books. It is a very good idea to bookmark (when in your post, add it to your internet browser's favorites) your post for easy location for future updates. Things move quickly around here.

If you haven't been keeping track of the books you've read, start when you join.

Thanks for being here and have fun. If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to contact me.

Students Against Zombies 2 books / 10 members / 67 posts This group is tailored to those who abhor zombies. If the thought of reanimated tissue alarms you, this is the group for you.

This group is much cooler than the other group you may be a part of. We don't have any rules restricting grammar or the content of a "post." Whatever you want to say is fine.

Goal: to have more posts than the AP Literature discussion board.
Pop-Culture Junkies 398 books / 82 members / 473 posts Pop-culture junkie bibliophiles of the world unite. This group is for those of us who are proud to let the fangirl/fanboy flag fly and happily admit to our pop-culture junkie status. If you own enough movies to open up your own rental store, have more books than you do shelves, have ventured into a comic store more than once in your life, find yourself quoting a book, movie, or television show at least once daily, and thank the tv gods that DVR/Tivo was ever invented...then this is the group for you. We'll discuss the latest in pop culture media and have a good time. The group promises to be a chock full of hoot and a lil bit of nany. Possibly even legend...wait for it...ary.
Movie Lovers 273 books / 1038 members / 3413 posts Welcome to Movie Lovers.

This is the place to come to discuss all genres of movies, old or new, viewed on the big screen or the little one, and not necessarily book-related...

Many book-lovers also share a passion for movies, as they also tell a "story" of one kind or another, and many movies are based on our favourite books.

All movie-lovers welcome to join discussions, or create your own.
Feel free to resurrect old (or ancient) discussions if you have something to add!

HAVE A HAPPY DAY :)
