  • John Winchester: The main protagonist of this book, John was a caporal in the Marine Corps. He developed the soldier way of thinking and acting and threats his sons as so, even if he loves them a lot. He'll do everything to protect them and he tried to raise them in the best way he knows. After Mary's death he tries to find out who or what killed his wife and to revenge her.
  • Sam Winchester: The sensitive little brother, who doesn't want to have the same life as his father and brother. He's very smart and stubborn.
  • Dean Winchester: A sensitive yet protective and vicious man. Vicious as in a good fighter. He can defend himself very well. Sometimes needs help but he can pull through things pretty easily.
  • Mary Winchester: is the mother of Sam and Dean, who died when they were little by some supernatural force. After her death the Winchester family hit the road in order to revenge her and find out the truth.
  • Missouri Mosley: a psychic from whom John learned the truth.
  • Jim Murphy: a priest, friend of John's.
  • Bobby Singer: a hunter.
  • H: a hunter who showed John how to hunt.
  • Fletcher Gable: a hunter.
  • Ellen: she owns a roadhouse, a place of meeting for hunters.
  • Bill: a hunter, Ellen's husband.
  • Samuel Colt: the legend says he created a gun with 13 bullets that can kill any supernatural being.
  • Ichi: a hunter.
  • Jo: Ellen's daughter.
  • Pam: Ellen's niece.
  • Daniel Elkins: a hunter specialized in hunting vampires.
  • Mr. Lyle: a teacher Sam had, who tried to kidnap him.
  • Silas: an old friend of Bobby's, a soothsayer.
  • Joey Tall Pine: a Cree medicine man, he lives in South Dakota.
  • David Fowler: a Miqmaq shaman.
