I really enjoyed this book. I read it so quickly though, that I wish I would have taken more time with it. It was one of those books you just can't put down. The characters were engaging, and easy to relate to - I really liked the voice of the husband (Paul). I also really liked the dog. I was holding my breath during the part where the cult group had taken the dog (Lorelei) although this section did seem like a turn off course for the story-line. It was a very sad book, but enjoyable.

Without a doubt, one of the most intriguing and unusual books I have ever read. At times poetic and disturbing, it follows the death of Lexy, a young married woman, and the state of grief suffered by her husband in the aftermath of her fall from a tree in their backyard. Was she pushed? Or was it a suicide? The only witness is Lorelei, their faithful dog, and she isn't talking...or is she?
I'm one of those people who never defaces a book, but there were times I wanted to grab a hi-lighter to emphasize a beautiful turn of phrase, or accent a memorable quote. And later on, I wanted to hack entire passages away so nobody would ever read them. When I finished the novel, I honestly could not think of anyone I would recommend it to, with the possible exception of my friend Ellen, who is herself a bit of an eccentric at times. So, ultimately, an interesting read, but not for everyone. I am anxious to see more from this promising writer though.

This is a really interesting book because it talks about how a man that lost his wife trys to get a dog to talk so that he can find out what really happens on the day that his wifes dies.
