I highly reccommend both of her books to anyone that likes a great mystery. Hopefully she'll have more coming soon.

I really liked the way the author wrote her book, flashing back to the day her family was murdered and the present, but I didn't like the subject matter.Several chapters I skimmed through because they depicted violence. It made me uncomfortable. I did finish the book but I doubt that I will be quick to pick up another of Ms. Flynns books.

I loved Gillian Flynn's debut novel, Sharp Objects. I rarely ever read crime drama / mystery books, as they are generally about as original as a McDonald's cheeseburger. Flynn's writing, however, sets a new standard for how good mystery can be. Her characters are deeply flawed, nearly broken, and her writing is caustic and brutal, but there is a freshness and an excitement to her novels. I can't wait for the next page.

loved it. it's probably not for everyone since the main character is snarky and not so nice but for those of us who can relate, terrific read.

I found this book absolutely absorbing and hated to put it down every night. The character of Libby could be seen as mean and cruel or just a damaged human being using very subtle sarcastic humor to survive the nightmare of her childhood. I opted for the latter. Loved the character and missed her when the book ended.

Think of every "dark" adjective you can conjure--creepy, grotesque, disturbing--and you'll aptly describe this engrossing novel, which deftly braids two narratives: the first-person, present-day killer quest of the emotionally damaged survivor of a brutal mass slaying, and the third-person, day-of-the-killing timeline of her murdered mother and surviving, imprisoned brother. Make no doubt about it...Flynn can write, and this is her genre.

I had a little difficulty getting into the book, but then it kind of took off. Mostly predictable, which was the attraction for me. I predicted and then was motivated to read to see if my predictions came through. They did almost every time.

A mystery that is finally solved by one of the youngest victims of a family murder. Libby's brother Ben is found guilty of the gruesome murders and there is no question of his guilt until a strange group called the Kill Club gets her involved. I just liked the author's style of writing.
