This is one of those novels that I find myself defending. People are always complaining the the story is "depressing." Perhaps, but great writing doesn't always have to be cheerful. The plot is similar to that of King Lear. A strong-willed father wills his farm to his three daughters, with...

I wanted to like this book; I really did, but as an Iowa native the story just didn't ring true. Not even "Bridges of Madison County" was this far-fetched.

    This is touching... the writing is amazing! Its hard to stay into the book sometimes. I stopped reading it and now I'm getting a.d.d. and reading another book but anyways....
