I must say, I could not put this book down, took me less than 2 days to finish it. I was definitely waiting for Percy and Annebeth to be together in the end. I loved that so much, it made the book for me. My favorite part was when they kissed underwater and Percy said "That was the best underwater kiss ever." I am definitely looking forward to read more books of his, but though it's the end of this series, I believe he's starting another one, cause he leaves so much room for another whole story, hopefully the same characters are in it! Also, hopefully Percy and Annebeth live forever together. Him turning down immortality just to be with Annebeth, shows how much he cares for her as a friend, and how much he cares for her as the one he loves. Even though they don't mention it, it's pretty obvious that they are in love with each other. I must say, in the fourth book, after I finished reading it, I thought Annebeth would get them all killed trying to get Luke back, but I was completely wrong! I am looking forward for many more books of his to come, only if they are about Percy and his loved ones.
I really thought it was a good book, you could always tell Annabeth practily hated Rachel, it was pretty predictible, but thats only because how much detial was put into the characters
yes, I thought it would have been funny, when they went underwater and kissed, and Clarisse said "They have been down there for 4 hours, what are they doing?" haha, sorry, a little inapropriate.
I loved loved loved this entire series, I'll always have a soft spot for Percy and the Mythology was awesome (I love his portayal of Apollo!). Mr. Riordan packs each of his books with a good deal of history/mythology along with a whirlwind of action adventure, and humor. The last book was an amazing finale, but there was one part in the book that really bothered me. (SPOILER alert!!!!!!!!) when Luke was about to die, he asked Annabeth if she loved him. She did love him. He was her family, her protector, and was like an older brother. She held hope for him the entire series. When she said that she didn't love him, it was like a hit in the gut for me. She should have said that she did love him, because after all, loves comes in many forms. That really bothered me. Did anyone else feel the same way?
ya, after getting them in a problem talking about her faith in Luke, in the end when she says she doesn't love him, it really was a little weird for me, and that's the end of this series, do you know if any others are coming out with them in it?
I agree, she had so much faith and hope for Luke and then she flat out tells him she doesn't love him. I guess that just bothered me a lot lol.
As far as I know, there will be no more Percy books. Rick Riordan said he believes "all good things must come to an end" and that a series should have a strong finale instead of lingering on and on (which I agree with, but I'm also sad to have it end). However, he plans to write another series with Camp Half-Blood with different characters (the last prophecy in book 5 kind of fore-shadowed this). Percy & the gang may still be in the books, but not as the main characters, more as counselors or something. Personally, I couldn't imagine enjoying a Camp Half-Blood series without Percy being the main character, but we'll see.
Also, he's studying up on Egyptian mythology to do a series on that. He said, in his years of teaching, that the only mythology his kids enjoyed more than Greek was Egyptian, so I guess we have something to look forward to!
Sorry it took me a while to get back to you btw, I hadn't checked the site in a while.
Hope you have a good day!
it took me less than 24 hours to read the whole thing... -.- I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! id just read the fourth 1 to pass the time and when i finished it look online to c if the this 1 had come out yet... it was out for like 2 weeks. normaly i get them right away... so i reserved it at the library and then my family went to the mall. so i bought the book there... =D i really hope he at least makes 1 more. he has it perfect though. he can stop or keep going. he had a good ending but he could keep going cause the prophicy (not sure how to spell that) Elizabeth told at the end. i liked how he had her become the next oricale. and i guessed she would b it by the end of the book!!! =D
My favorite of the series, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, just as good as the book Brisingr
This is a fabulous book! I could never put the book down for a second!! Rick Riodan uses this hilarious sense of humor that actually makes me laugh out loud!! It was a great read full of adventure, intensity, twists, and humor. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
Adding to what Shea M said,
Yeah, that bothered me a lot!! I was like, you do love him!! Come on!! I don't quite recall that specific part, it was a while ago I read it. But yes, it did. Right on track Shea M!!
It was an awesome book. I just wish they didn't kill off LUke! He was my favorite character :( Oh well. I hope his reincarnation is the main character in the second series of Demigods (at least I think since the prophecy and note in the back)!
Luke was one of my very favorite characters too :(. I wish that before he passed Annabeth had said that she loved him because really, love comes in so many forms! What a great finale though, and I'm glad he died honorably.
um is percy and Annabeth dating at the end of the book..
and is
there going to be a second series of percy jackson.
Percy and Annabeth are suggestively a couple at the end of the series. Unfortunately, that's it for Percy! The author stated that he thinks series should have a strong ending rather than dragging on (which is understadable, I think). However, Riordan has also announced that he will be featuring a second demigod series that will somehwat include Percy and the old characters coming out in Fall of next year, if I remember correctly, though they most likely will not be the main characters.
i hope so this is a once in a lifetime book
and yes percy and annabeth are dating at the end of the book
percy and annabeth become the first in a new line of demigod fighters
i hope that he makes a nother book of a second series this series is just to good and i need to have more
p.s.annabeth and percy make the best couple.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UR SSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Right! They should have a second season of awesome books!
This series is the series that got me to started reading!
i hope he makes other series
i read all of them and cant wait to watch the movies comming out. They will be amazing!
I actually read on his blog that there is going to be a new series on Egyptian mythology. You really should also try the 39 clues series- the first one is by him.
I think it is the best in the series because it is all war in new york against all the monsters it was cool
I can't wait for the next series, Percy and Annabeth arn't going to be the main charecters but they will be in it.
where have u heard about the new series? i heard about it at the end of the book
What next series? I haven't heard anything about it, and there is nothing posted on his website. Where are you guys getting your info?
in the back of the book, he said..."as the first series comes to an end..." (something like that) so i think everyone's just assuming unless there's more...
i couldnt let this book down. my parents had to force me not to read tis
Don't you wish that the books would continue through Percy's life? lol I've become so attached to him haha. Although it would be awesome if it was Annabeth's point of view, however I believe they will probably be about someone completely different.
I'm so close to finishing the book! It's hard to put it down!
"PEANUT BUTTER!!!!!!!" (roughly translated)
-Tyson to the cyclopes
I might as well read the next series, as long as he fixes the cheesy starts and finishes I'm game.
Riordan's next book will start the Kane Chronicles, which I am pretty sure has to do with the Egyptian gods and goddesses, but then the next book coming out this Fall will be a sequel to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, focusing on a different main character, but Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and other main characters from this series will play a part.
I was just about to say that! I looked up when the next series will come out on Wiki' And when I saw what you said on Wiki' I thought "OH!" Well that is a new twist!!!! I love that every book Riordan brings in a new character!!!
Can't wait to finish reading this book! :D I found Percy Jackson series one of the best series I've read!
I forget who it was, But I was reading a Reveiw of The last Olympian, and She/he TOTALY spoiled it. I am not going to say what She/he said because some people haven't read it yet,But I would advise NOT to read reviews as much as you can. And Always make sure that the hide spoilers box is check marked and watch out when you click on the read more, It says "WARNING may contain spoilers!!!!
- Just watching out 4 u
That really stinks, I hate it when people ruin the ending! Did you know that someone ruined the end of one of the Harry Potter books for me? I think it was Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I was mad. That's why I try not to give much away in the reviews. I usually say stuff from the book in discussions, cuz, well, that's what the discussion are for.
i can tell you why every likes this book because it rocks! i have read like three times
I liked how the author worked the outcome of the prophecy. I sure expected for Percy to nearly die and come back to life or something crazy, when all along it was Luke that would save the day.
I know! It was a real twist and so unpredictable. And Rachel becoming the Oracle was pretty surprising. It all made a ton of sense in the end though.
@ Emma
The prophecy was:
You shall delve in the darkness of the endless maze
The dead, the traitor, and the lost one raise
You shall rise or fall by the ghost kings hand
the child of Athena's final stand
Destroy with a hero's final breath
And lose a love to worse than death
It was for Annabeth, and the first line was talking about going into the labyrinth.
The second line is about Nico, Percy, and Annabeth raising the dead while looking for Bianca, Nico's sister. The traitor is a half-blood that was saved by Percy, but later helped raise Kronos back from the dead. The lost one is referring to Pan, the wild god that Grover was looking for. They found him, but unfortunately he died. The third line was talking about Nico, because he was Hades's only son. Since he joined their quest in the end, they succeeded. The fourth line isn't talking about Annabeth, but is instead talking about Daedalus, the inventor of the labyrinth, who turned out to be a child of Athena. The fifth line is talking about how they finally destroyed the labyrinth, which they did by killing Daedalus whos life force was tied to the labyrinth. And the last line is talking about Luke(who Annabeth STILL has feelings for, unfortunately). Luke did some warped magical thing that put Kronos's spirit in Luke's body. So now Luke and Kronos are sharing a body, which is actually pretty weird
i totally love when the "party ponies" came in and like swept Kronos's army, now THAT was sweet
that was sooooo hilarious! I liked the part where Percy travels to the underworld.
Yeah, that part was exciting. And I just love Mrs. O'Leary.
I looooooveeeeeeeeee this book especially the Part with annabeth and the air bubble!!!!!!!!!!
Haha, yeah, that was the part I kept reading over and over.
I don't think there's a 6th book. Everything kinda ties together and makes it seem like this is definitely the last one.
I'm starting to read this book now and I just wanna be on the most comments list!!!!!
Almost all the good guys survive(like always)and Kronos and his army are cast into the deep abyss of Tartarus.
I agree. It's always sad when one of the bad guys becomes a good guy, only to die at the end. Kinda like Darth Vader from Star Wars.
ummmm.....yah. hestia rox, but u find that out really soon, so that isn't really a great title for the book....although it IS rather dramatic if u don't know what its about and u see it on the shelf at a bookstore. i guess that's the pint...to get peeps to buy it. its really good tho...
Hi, I’m one of the administrators for a group called Camp Half- Blood (the home of the demigod), and I was wondering, since you all have read this book if you would like to join. This is just a recommendation and if you don’t want to join, then just ignore this comment. If you are interested the link is below and the first 11 members that join and that are sorted into a new cabin without a cabin leader becomes the cabin leader. Hey, if you like Percy Jackson and the Olympians, you’ll love Rick Riordan’s new series, The Kane Chronicles. The Red Pyramid is the first in the series and features characters Sadie and Carter. Make sure you also check out RedPyramidPuzzle.com! It’s a cool interactive challenge with a chance to win an awesome prize when you complete all five puzzles!
My brother told me about those books. Have you read them? Are they good?
Has anyone ever been to Mount Olympus? I really would like to meet the "gods".
That'd be awesome to actually go to Mount Olympus. Very historically interesting and whatnot.
Really loved the book! My favorite of the series!
Percy Jackson is the best and a TRUE hero!
i think there was too much fighting and they should explane more the other books are amazing
Its the best book after Harry Potter Series!!!!!! LOve Percy Jackson and his attitude!!!!!!!
I guess every good thing must come to an end, I liked this series, but apparently Riordan is writing a new one with different characters
Yeah, its already out. The new book is called the Lost Hero. It's definitely worth reading if you like this series.
it's the best series i have read so far. the first book was amazing and so is the others but this last book is really incredible!!! I just read it for two days straight!
This book was amazing! I'm kinda glad that there's the Lost Hero and that whole series. I would've been slightly disappointed if this was the end and we never heard anything else about Percy or Annabeth.
haven't read the book yet but I'm planning on reading and i just started battle of the labyrinth and its good so far

this was a great book. and some people were right. because of how the book was like, you just couldn't put the book down unless someone took it from you. and it would be sad if we didn't hear anything about percy and annabeth again.
Yeah, the book really made you want to keep on reading and to find out what happens. You really worried about percy and annabeth.
I think this book provided a great ending to the Percy Jackson series. It also opened up a lot of room for the Heroes of Olympus series. I really liked it. And yeah, you couldn't put it down.

oook loved this book but i got a question!!! was this book called the last olympian because of the goddess of the hearth?? because she said she was the last olympian.
I did not realize you could be the son of only one person. However, I believe it would be difficult to be the son of two goddess.
I am daughter of Hermes :) I was claimed ][ like 3 months ago.. well i think this book is the greatest! :)
Hermes's Roman name is Mercury. Mars is Ares, god of war.
it says ur name is Mars Castellan... Luke is the son of Hermes and his last name is Castellan...I think?
I think if I were a daughter of a god or goddess, I would want to be a daughter of Athena.
Why would you want to be a son of Zeus? Hera would probably never stop trying to kill you.
I would be Apollo because he's a beast archer and he can have any car he wants at any time he wants. Or i would be Zues because of lightning.
I don't like Apollo or Zeus. I bet it'd be totally awesome to be a Hunter of Artemis though.
Yeah, it was a good book. So if you were a demigod, who would you want to be your godly parent?
Out of all the books even though this was the last of the series it was the best to me.
