• Lucinda: The main character in this book/heroine. She is orphaned when her wealthy mother and father tragically die. Her Uncle and Aunt who own a goldsmithy take her in and she is there forced to work as a servant and is abused by her Aunt.
• Uncle: The Uncle who takes in Lucinda when her mother and father dies. He owns and operates a goldsmith/jewelry shop. He is not her blood uncle, but an uncle my marriage, once removed.
• Aunt: The second wife to Lucinda's uncle. She has no blood kin to Lucy at all. She abuses Lucinda and both Lucinda and her uncle are fear this character.
• The Amaranth Witch: A mysterious woman who shows up when the Queen's eldest son goes missing and never ages.
• Beryl: A woman who becomes Lucinda's friend. She is from a magical, enchanted land that is somewhat similar to what some would call heaven, and is parallel to our own.
• Peter: A professional thief and pick pocket who lives on the streets of St. Sebastien.
• Prince Gregor: The prince of the kingdom in which Lucinda. Lucinda, along with every other girl in the kingdom, has a crush on him.
• Dog: A goat that acts like a dog.
• Coxley: He worked for Lucinda's father, when he was alive, as a lawyer. He is now a Lord and works for the King as Chief of Justice.
• Princess Beatrix: Betrothed to Prince Gregor- "spun of sugar".
