  • Lucinda Chapdelaine: The main character in this book/heroine. She is orphaned when her wealthy mother and father tragically die. Her Uncle and Aunt who own a goldsmithy take her in and she is there forced to work as a servant and is abused by her Aunt.

  • Beryl: Also known as The Amaranth Witch, a mysterious woman who befriends Lucinda.
  • Peter: A professional thief and pick pocket who lives on the streets of St. Sebastien. He'll steal anything that isn't blotted down if you are not careful!
