• Lucinda: The main character in this book/heroine. She is orphaned when her wealthy mother and father tragically die. Her Uncle and Aunt who own a goldsmithy take her in. She is forced to work as a servant and is abused by her aunt. When her uncle dies she is thrown out on the steets.
• Uncle: The Uncle who takes in Lucinda when her mother and father dies. He owns and operates a goldsmith/jewelry shop. He is not her blood uncle, but an uncle my marriage, once removed.
• Aunt: The second wife to Lucinda's uncle. She has no blood kin to Lucy at all. She abuses Lucy. Both Lucy and her uncle are afraid of her
• The Amaranth Witch: A mysterious woman who shows up when the Queen's eldest son goes missing. She also never ages.
• Beryl: A woman who becomes Lucinda's friend. She is from a magical, enchanted land that is somewhat similar to what some would call heaven, and is parallel to our own.
• Peter: A professinal theif and pick pocket.
• Prince Gregor: the prince of the kingdom in which Lucy and her friends inhabit. Lucy and along with every other girl in the kindom have a crush on him.
• Dog: A goat that acts like a dog.
• Coxley: He worked, for Lucinda's father when he was alive, as a lawyer. He is now a Lord and works for the King as Chief Justice.
• Princess Beatrix: She is betrothed to Prince Gegor
