Not bad. I liked the H/H thought she did a good job. Although some part reminded me of Julie Garwood's The Secert.

Lynsay Sands is a hit or miss author for me, and for me it was a miss. In my opinion the author had the opportunity to make the plot more enticing but it was not done. The characters seemed shallow and boring, the story was very much a one sided deal, I felt like I didn't to know Cullen. And the investigation of the "crimes" was a tad to simplistic. But it just my opinion....

And it wasn't so bad that I would consider it a waste of my time. Well, I guess that's the silver lining!

I didn't care for it. If I hadn't been waiting on a sick friend I would have ditched it after 30 pages. Shallow supporting characters and predictable plot.

Wonderful Scottish romance/mystery with a brave, resourceful heroine and an admirable hero -- who catches on to how to treat his wife quite quickly. If you love reading about Scotland in the 1200s, read this.

Lynsay Sands has done it again. With romance, comedy, and mystery. An English Lady and wicked Stepmother, A Devil Laird and the mystery of killed kinsman. Highly entertaining.

    3.5

Last year, I read The Key by Lynsay Sands, and found it to be the funniest book I had ever read. It’s about a chastity belt. That book alone has put all of her historicals on my tbr list. So, her latest book, Devil of the Highlands I bought the week it released and was really looking forward to it. It was enjoyable, but really lacked some of her humor. The story line wasn’t original, and the mystery wasn’t anything special. The emotions between the two were great, and both characters were very likable. I loved the opening scenes, they share a passionate kiss before they know that they are betrothed to each other! However, I’ve forgotten most of the story and it’s been shipped off into PBS world.
