A great book with bright, colorful illustrations about being happy with yourself and comfortable in your own skin. This rhyming book is a great read aloud for young children! Gerald the Giraffe is sad because he can't dance like his friends and they make fun of him. He then finds that he can dance, it is just to his own beat.

Picture book- This book showed that anyone can do anything they want to. I think it would be a good choice to show to students.

I found this book to be really adorable because the Giraffe did something that he loved to do. He has a hard time dancing but he still finds a way to do it. In the book the other animals laugh at him and tell him that he can not dance. There is one friend who believes in him and at the end of the night the giraffe had his own moves. This book shows that anything is possible and you can do what you love even if you do not think you can!

Gerald is a giraffe who can't dance, and becomes very nervous every single year when the Jungle Dance comes around. At the dance, he tries to dance, and the others all make fun of him. He runs into a wise cricket who tells him he only needs to listen to listen to the natural world, and he will be fine. The cricket was right, because once Gerald did, he began to dance wonderfully.

I loved the illustrations in this book, and enjoyed the flow of the story. I would recommend this story for any teacher doing a lesson on being yourself, or to never give up.

A fun easy read for kids. I like that the author deals with the bullying issue and in the end makes the main character a hero. The pictures are very inviting and help visualize dancing animals well. I think this is a good book to teach against bullying and to help kids be themselves not matter what anyone else thinks. The overall message also teaches to help build confidence in what you think you are good at.

Gerald is a tall giraffe but is very clumsy because of his knees. He was very good at standing still but a disaster when it came to running around. Every year in Africa they hold the Jungle Dance so that the animals could dance. The rhinos, lions, chimps, and the baboons all did a very splendid dance. When it was Gerald's turn to dance all the animals said that he was so weird and clumsy that he couldn't dance because giraffes were not made for dancing. Gerald was so sad he started heading home. He found a cricket on his way home that inspired him to be himself and dance for himself. When the cricket played music, Gerald danced and danced. All the other animals came to see what was happening. When they saw Gerald dancing they said that he was the best dancing giraffe that they had ever seen. Gerald said that once everybody can dance as long as they have music that they love.
I really enjoyed reading this book because it has a nice moral and the illustrations are very vivid and beautiful. This book can be used in teaching because it teaches children to be themselves and to not let anybody bring you down. It can be a book that helps with a child's self esteem.
