This story really developed the characters from previous books and added more characters that I'll be looking forward to seeing in further books. “Gives a little more depth into the origins & actual nature of Karigan's ability, but really, this is a transition to the next book. Introduction of a few new characters, but no real resolution of any of the major plot points of the series. Hope the next book ties things up, or this series is going to get tremendously frustrating.”

“While not Britian's best work of the series, it is obvious that this book sets up future events such as the revelation of karigans not so lost family and her true magic abilities.

While the action of this novel is more subdue and a little hazy at times the thick novel is going to be no doubt important in relation to it's sucessors.”
“I had a chance to read the first chapter from the author's website years ago and was so excited about this book - It was just as exciting when I finally had a chance to read the entire book.

In terms of Character development, there were probably less references to some of the characters we learnt in the first book, but we do get to understand the King and several of the other characters better.
This book worked at a grander scale in terms of the plotline and the enemies introduced etc. and I really enjoyed that. ”

“Why do great trilogies have to end?! This shows a writer at top of her form, with characters that become family, settings that convey how little changes in human responses, and a plot that keeps the multiple pages turning rapidly.
