“I was so excited to read the final installment in the series, where undoubtedly, Marcus and Jessica finally got together. It made me upset at first that Jessica had missed Percy and Bridget's wedding, but if it had not for her missing her flight, she would have never reunited with Marcus. It was a little disorienting to jump right in to the book without any knowledge of what their lives are like now, but I loved Mccaferty caught us up through the conversations. I thought the Barry Manilow fan club was really funny. It was nice to see it written in Marcus' perspective, so we can finally get a peek inside his cryptic head. I liked the conversations. The poems were really unique and I liked those. I thought it was cute how Marcus knew just what to buy at the hotel gift shop, and how he made her blow a 'candle' out for her birthday. The ending was really sweet, and I loved how she talked about not minding sharing a toothbrush with him, because love is romantic and icky. Very sweet, and a good end to a great series, slightly predictable, but good all the same. ”

Really, you would have expected MORE from Megan McCafferty to draw back her audience after the slump from Charmed Thirds to Fourth Comings. Instead, she risked the book by throwing in different sorts of storytelling styles which made it hard to turn the pages. She could have done it in entirely in the third perspective but she didn't, and I'm sure I wasn't the only disappointed one.
I would have given it a lower rating if only I didn't like Jessica Darling's wit.”
“In Perfect Fifths, the fifth and last installment in the Jessica Darling series, Jessica and Marcus run into each other at an airport three years after Jessica turned down Marcus's proposal. Under some odd circumstances and events, (I'm not going to tell you the WHOLE book)they decide to take some time to "catch up" with each other, thus setting the story, which all takes place within that day. Megan McCafferty does an excellent job at narrarating both of their minds. I especially liked this one because we finally get to see inside the notorious Marcus Flutie's head. This helped me see that everyone is a little insecure inside. When I read Perfect Fifths, I was finally able to see the vulnerable side of Marcus, which made him all the more real to me, and when I look back on the first four Jessica Darling books, I look at Marcus differently: not as a character in a book, but as a person with feelings. I have always looked at Jessica Darling that way, because I can relate to her much more, and I was able to see inside of her head from day one (or, more accurately, book one) I give Perfect Fifths five stars and I also highly recommend it. ”

Yes | No“While I've been a fan of this series and loved the previous four books, this one turned me off a bit with the third person writing. Yes, it gave us a nice insight into Marcus's thoughts, but it didn't feel like a true Jessica Darling book written with her witty personality that I've grown to love. However, I loved how McCafferty told us the fate of other characters - some of what happened was totally unexpectable but fun. ”

I couldn't have been happier about the ending to this series. I can only hope that one day someone will love me like Marquis Flutie loves Jessica Darling. ”
