Phoney, Fone bone and smiley bone were chased out of Boneville because Phoney was too cheap. As they ran the got lost in the middle of the dessert. They had a map but it was useless. As they traveled they found a mountain range. So they decided to go up the mountain but locus chased them. While they were running phone bone fell down and when he climbed up he went on the wrong side but luckily he found some of smiley bone’s cigar butts. As phone bone was walking he found a girl by the river and told her so she said that she would help him find smiley so they went to the girl’s house. The girl’s name was thorn. So she got dressed and ready but she warned him that monsters wanted to kill the bone’s family. He didn’t pay any attention so they left and went to thorn’s grandpa’s bar called ‘’ The Barrel Heaven’’ and found smiley and phoney bone there. Now they have to work so they can pay their way out of work and get back to boneville

  • Fone Bone: The main protagonist, Fone Bone is a bone creature from the outskirts of Boneville. His cousins Phoney and Smiley, have recently been kicked out of town due to Phony's greedy and selfish deeds. Fone Bone agrees to help them escape.
  • Phony Bone: Fone Bone's Cousin, and a greedy one at that. Phoney Bone was rich and powerful, but that was not enough for him, causing him to attempt various money making schemes, which have gotten him kicked out of town multiple times.
  • Smiley Bone: Phoney Bone and Fone Bone's cousin. You could probably call Smiley the clown in this story. He goes along with Fone Bone and Phoney Bone out from Boneville. He's always joking around and also a bit stupid. Still, he's a good companion. Unlike his cousins, he is laid back and just takes life as it comes. He is not very eager to return to his hometown.
  • Fone Bone: A girl from the valley located over the mountains. Fone Bone, who happens to be lost in the valley, comes upon Thorn by a nearby spring. Thorn takes him back to her grandmother's house to stay until Fone Bone can get back to Boneville. She is also a princess who Fone bone falls deeply in-love with
  • Gran'ma Ben: Thorn's grandmother. Gran'ma Ben raises racing cows and chickens on her farm deep in the valley. She lives there with Thorn. She is in excellent condition, and races cows every year at the Spring Festival. She has won every year.
  • Lucius: Owner of the Barrelhaven Tavern, and something of a friend to Gramma Ben. He is a respectable man but can be hot tempered at times. He employs Phoney and Smiley to work at his tavern after Phoney Bone is unaware that the people pay in goods, not in the money that he wants.
