Tess Newland: A sexy outsider to Edilean who runs the law offices of Ramsey McDowell. Feisty, bossy, and talented. A tenant in Edilean House. Her grandmother lived in Edilean.
David Aldredge: aka "Grandpa Dave". Grandfather of Luke Connor, husband of Mary Alice Welsch, former fiancé of Miss Edi. Likes to play golf. Dr. Dave.
Jim Collins: Father of Luke, a retired regional sales manager who drives his wife, Helen, crazy.
Gary Minton: Jocelyn's father, a lazy, barely literate country club handyman who married wealthy Claire Scovill.
Grampa Joe Connor: Luke's beloved paternal grandfather. A loner and fisherman, who loved being alone with his grandson.
Alexander McDowell: A childhood friend of Miss Edi's who helps Edilean Harcourt move to Boca Raton, FL after Dr. Brenner retired, and asks her to manage his charity donations and look out for the young granddaughter of his friends, the Scovills. Was married to Lissie.
Ingrid: A model with Jocelyn's stepsisters. Connections to Luke.
Hamish Trumbull: A crotchety old farmer Edi and David Clare run into during WW II
David Clare: A persistent WW II sergeant who was the love of Edilean Harcourt's life.
Bertrand Harcourt: Edilean Harcourt's lazy, indolent brother - "a man who could do absolutely nothing and believe it was work". Laziest person.
Angus Harcourt: Scottish stable boy who stole his master's daughter and a bag of gold and they absconded to VA where they founded the town of Edilean in the 1700s.
Nigel Brenner: Doctor with whom Jocelyn worked and traveled all over the world working with burn victims.
