Elizabeth Bennet has to be the most relatable woman in all the fictional world.

Every time I read this book I discover something new in it. More nuances. THe subtelty is the brilliance in this book I think. I adore Mr.Bennett and his appreciation for human folly. Although the main (love) story is great, I just adore all the other characters because of how real they are. People are greedy, petty, jealous, ambitious, gentle..it's such a wide range of human variety. And never once boring!

i think the film did no justice whatsoever to the book. it chats completely and utterly out of its left pocket. i think its mainly coz it cant show the budding feelings darcy has for elizabeth. i mean - the only way i knew he'd fallen in love with her was when he held her hand. wat on earth?????? and one thing im proper miffed about...in the book it says darcy cant help smiling at elizabeth weneva he sees her or talks to her, or she says summat to her. and in the film....! he only smiles ONCE and thats near the end when she goes to pemberly and meets georgiana...and wats the point of making him smile at her then? we already know he's in love with her now....

Adia...Austen's strength is in her characters, not necessarily her plot (although I think the way she can weave the characters' lives together believably is a talent as well). The endings tend to be oversimplified, but as they are with most romance novels.

Marissa...if you are on a 12th grade level, give it a try. P&P is the basis for most of the romance stories we have today.

Don't get me wrong I love Jane Austins depth a style and her books are great reads they are all alike. All are about middle class plain and witty women and a rich handsome man who still falls in love with her. All alike except Emma that is a good Austin book to start with. Love nearly all books just not original.
