“Shreve Stockton, writer-photographer, left SanFrancisco and by Vespar was journeying to her "beloved"New York.
She was entranced by Bighorn Mountain, red dirt and wide open spaces.
After a brief time in New York, she was drawn back to Wyoming, set aside urban living and took a house in Ten Sleep, Wyoming -- population 300.
As our story unfolds, Shreve has accepted a 10 day old coyote pup. (soon to be called Charlie)
The Daily Coyote is born as Shreve shares online, on a daily basis, life reflections and photography of Charlie's first year.

“Great book and quick read. The photographs are outstanding and the writing is great and as straight-forward as the terrain the author describes. If you love animals or the West or both read this book. A warning! There is a dichotomy in the author's story that unsettles some people - especially those not acquainted with the West. To many ranchers in Wyoming the coyote is tantamount to a rat and should be exterminated - just as most people would not tolerate rats living in their home or favorite restaurants. I'm not defending extermination but I grew up in Wyoming and understand the frustration.”Cameron Reid wrote this review Wednesday, February 6, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? “It was an OK read. I've never been interested in owning a wild animal and reading this book confirmed what I already knew. I applaud Shreve Stockton for her commitment to Charlie but am glad that I am not her. ”Samantha Q wrote this review Wednesday, June 27, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“This is far afield from my usual reading. The true story of a NYC woman who ends up in Wyoming raising a coyote and living a rustic life in a cabin. I finished it in a day and a half. Just couldn't put it down. Excellent. ”Donna H wrote this review Saturday, April 21, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Great read! Wonderful story about leaving the big city and experiencing survival in the wilds of Wyoming. Kept waiting for the big 'bite' to happen, but was glad to see the author step up into her role of dominant human.”didyousayparty? wrote this review Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
