I love her books....really enjoyed this one until the end. It was a bit of a letdown. But a not quite perfect Laura Lippman book still so much better than anything else.

Love this author. Like the other book I read by her better, but this one was still very good.

Not badly written, but bored me. The lead character, Cassandra Fallows, is a self-obsessed memoirist-turned-novelist with an inexhaustible capacity for self-delusion. The one character intended to be the most sympathetic, Caliope (Callie) Jenkins is a cipher that refused to speak about her child's death, even to defend herself.

It was an interesting investigation of an author's responsibility to the people from her life that she writes about. Also, this story circles around the idea of truth, especially where memory is involved. Is the truth a factual, verifiable accounting, or an amalgam of our memories and feelings and fears and those of others who were also involved? I just wish I had cared more, about the people, the situation, the resolution.

Good. How we all look at life from different perspectives and end up with different stories to tell about the same episode.

I'm having a hard time getting through this book. It seems to require the effort from me instead of drawing me in.

I like Laura Lippman's writing, though, and would recommend her other books.
