This book gives you an general overview of common topics in philosophy and the pocket edition is really neat to read on trains, etc. It includes topics in the following order: philosophy of religion (does God exists, the problem of evil), ethics (how to live right, what is right and wrong / good and bad), political philosophy, epistemology (theory of knowledge - how we gain knowledge and the nature of knowledge), philosophy of science (what is science and how does it progress), philosophy of mind (what is the relationship between mind and body, how should we study the mind) and philosophy of art (what is art, how should critize art). I have just mentioned some of the main problems for each area. There is much more to philosophy and there are many areas of interest. Just take the philosophy of sports or "bullshit" as examples.

What is not covered in Warburton is aestethics (what is beauty) and the philosophy of religion is centered around judeo-christian/muslim (i.e. the Abrahimtic) religions as it only considers monoteism. However, the book does a good job in representing the philosophy of religion as it is - in the western world. A discussion on free will is included under this section and in the politics section topics are quite diverse: equality, democracy, freedom, punishment and reform.

It is an easy read and gives you a broad overview of philosophy. After each chapter there is a reading list. Philosophy the basics (4th ed.) can be accompanied by Warburton (ed.) Philosophy: Basic Readings, which is an antology with original texts of many important philosophers.
