I deeply related to this book, as I did with Caroline Knapp's other two non-fiction books. This is not like reading an extended Dog Fancy magazine or anything like that; it's about the deep and true bond that can exist between a person and their pet. I particularly related to how Knapp's relationship with her dog helped her define parts of her identity which had become dulled or murky over the course of years of alcoholism. Very interesting- enjoyable and informative for non dog lovers...
