Dr. Farmer's only history book ties in well with his other writings on his work in Haiti, as well as Mountains Beyond Mountains. Echoes some of the ideas and themes of Manufacturing Consent, though specifically in Haiti. A portrait of a country that has been crushed under hundreds of years of brutality and oppression, both domestic and foreign.
