I love to read books about strong, confident women. Faith Westcott is definitely such a women, and strenth, confidence, and determination are all necessary traits considering the fact that she's a pirate. Right at the beginning, she takes command of a ship, The Red Siren, and makes it her own, not realizing the disgrace that will soon befall the ship's former captain. All that she can see is that it is up to her to provide for her sisters so that they're aren't all married off to horrible, greedy men. Faith father also intends to marry her off to such a man, Sir Wilhelm, and she must to everything she can to stop that from happening.

The romance in this book is packed with intensity! Some of the scenes between Faith and Dajon just made my heart start fluttering, and reminded me very much of Julie Lessman's books which are also full of passionate scenes. I'm loving the fact that more and more of this type of writing is becoming more common in Christian fiction. It's okay to have passionate scenes between couples without stepping over the line, and as long as it's presented tastefully, I say bring it on!

I would highly recommend this book if you like good historical fiction with a great romance. MaryLu Tyndall is quickly becoming a favorite of mine after reading one of her other novels, The Falcon and the Sparrow. Looks like I need to pull out her first pirate series....I doubt they disappoint!

    Lady pirate…
Faith Westcott was a strong, independent female. She was determined that no one will ever force her to marry. Faith has lost her faith in God. She spent her days charming the ton. No one would ever suspect that she spent her nights as the captain of a pirate ship.
It was Captain Dajon White’s responsibility to take over guardianship of the Westcott sisters. After being accosted by a female pirate, Dajon is determined to discover who she is and deal with her harshly. When he meets the charming Ms Westcott, he finds himself falling in love.
Marylu Tyndall has once again brought fans a book that will entertain and bless them. Tyndall always has a Christian message that is pertinent to the lives of her readers. The romance between Dajon and Faith is filled with sizzling passion. Fans will not be disappointed in Tyndall’s new series.

Ok this is another Wow! book in my opinion.

In this book we find a feisty, red head who merely considers herself Robin Hood of the seas. She vows never to marry and to look after her sisters at her mother's deathbed wish. Faith is loyal to no other cause than her sisters' welfare in her lady life and in her act of piracy. Her sister's welfare and future consumes her. It was for them she sailed the seas and risked her life in pillaging ships. The Red Siren, her ship and her faithful friend, is Faith's ticket to the sea, wealth and freedom.

There's nothing that will stop her, not even the Captain of the HMS Enforcer, Dajon Waite. Will Captain Waite be able to tame this determined, defiant, confident, spitfire red head? He's the pirate hunter. Dajon patrols the seas to rid them of any pirates. He lost his ship to this lady pirate 5 years earlier. Dajon vows to follow God's laws and man's rules but will a budding love for this feisty red head come in his way to keep his vows.

But then there's the scoundrel, Sir Wilhelm Carteret, that gets in the way. Faith's father has promised her hand in marriage to him. Faith would rather hang for her piracy than to marry him. Would Mr. Carteret be the key to tame the wildcat? Or will she stay in shackles all her married life.

Mary Lu has out-done herself with this 'Lady by Day and Pirate by Night' novel. Now she has me setting on my seat waiting for the next book in the series to come out in the fall.

This may very well be my favorite Tyndall book yet. In fact, it was so stinking yummy I am still smacking my lips. I wish they'd release these books closer together because now I have to wait, and wait...sigh. At first I thought it seemed a bit far fetched that a woman heroine would be a pirate on the side. So I googled this info and whaddaya know, there were lady pirates in those days. So I went back to reading. And then I couldn't stop reading. Seriously.

I love romance that sizzles. This story has that. I love a romance with great conflict and seemingly impossible situations to get out of. This book has that, too. Best of all is the tension on the page. The story kept building and building and that even got my pulse racing. Isn't it great when you have a physical reaction to your character's peril?

Oh, and the conclusion was breathtakingly sweet! I can't tell you the details or it'll spoil the fun, but I can tell you it rocked my socks clean off because it was so hot - in a Christian sense, of course. And then the author leaves you with an issue that becomes the next book. Mwahahaha! I can't wait! I loved all three sisters. The author did an incredible job of showing their deep-rooted pain and thus, their motivations were believable. Though clearly fiction, these characters seemed real to me. Bravo!

The Red Siren is the name of a pirate ship, and also the lady pirate that commands her. She has a dual identity as the daughter, Faith (1 of 4) of an Admiral by day - and the captain of the Red Siren whenever there is a ship to plunder.

After her father married off her older sister Charity to a vile man, and Faith's mother died, Faith vowed to protect her 2 remaining sisters Hope and Grace from the same fate. She feels that she needs to acquire enough wealth, so that they will not need to rely on men to take care of them. So Faith becomes a pirate.

One of her first conquests is a ship captained by Dajon Waite. Not only does she take all of his goods, but his ship as well. This changes the course of Dajon's life and puts them back on a collision course 5 years into the future.

Can Faith save herself and her 2 sisters from Charity's fate? When Dajon reenters her life, as a captain in the British Royal Navy, will he be forced to arrest her for being a pirate? Or can the God-fearing Dajon Waite help the faithless Faith Westcott rediscover the God she thought had abandoned her?

I really liked the way the author named the daughter's Charity, Faith, Grace and Hope. We don't learn a lot about Charity in this book - just that she has been married to someone the other sisters do not like (for good reason.. ). Faith is the main character in The Red Siren, and is the one that has lost her faith. Grace is full of God's grace and does much to help the less fortunate. Hope is the youngest, and though she has been through some terrible travesties, she still has hope that there is love for her - either the love she is yearning for from her father, or from Lord Falkland.

I enjoyed reading The Red Siren - it grabbed me quick, kept up the pace throughout the book and wrapped the main story up nicely, but also left a hanger for the second book - The Blue Enchantress coming in the fall of 2009! For a peek at the cover of the Blue Enchantress - visit the author's blog here.

The Red Siren was simply captivating. From the first page to the close of the book you are held to the pages to find out what will happen next.

The story centers around Faith Westcott (her two sisters Grace & Hope) and Dajon Waite. Faith feels compelled to watch after her sisters and is trying to gain wealth to save them from being married off to unsavory men like their older sister Charity. Dajon Waite has things in his past that drive him to follow the rules especially God rules (and the Navy's). His job is hunting and capturing pirates in that area. When Faith's father is called away he assigns Dajon the job of looking after the ladies. Not an easy task.

Then there's Sir Wilhelm Carteret. A wealthy sort who has set his sights on faith but Faith loaths any man especially Sir Wilhelm. However, he will have Faith at any cost and if she does not make her fortune by the time her father returns he has promised to give Faith to Sir Wilhelm in marriage. egad!@!!!!

But what will happen when the pirate hunter (Dajon) meets the pirate (Faith)?

I've never met a MaryLu Tyndall book I didn't like. This one was no exception. If you like adventure, heart stopping moments and a great love story complete with an underlying message, look no further. Get the book. Great job MaryLu. I'm looking forward to "The Blue Enchantress" coming this fall.
