Read this book just because I wanted to read everything in the Girls of many lands series. Kathleen's story was one I enjoyed reading, particularly for her spunk and determination. Even though her family cannot afford to send her to take lessons for the one thing that she loves, she finds a way into the hearts of her teachers and even though she is in a large family, she is yet the loner, standing alone. I love how well the author illustrates that sometimes it's not 'everything' that we want or need, it's the little things, like how they made her a dancing costume out of...well, I won't spoil the ending. A great, somewhat historical, read.
