“The author, rather than the title or topic drew me. I had read Fisher's "Snow Walker" trilogy and enjoyed it very much. As I did this re-telling of the Grail story. Fisher has a strong sense of place, and her characters, with their mythic doppelgangers, are well depicted.
Except the Mother. Mothers always get short shrift in these tales, like Cartwright women on Bonanza, or women who get shot in the stomach in a Mickey Spillane novel. Maybe the Myth requires it, it has been 30+ years since I delved into Grail tales in my Medieval lit. course at UMB.
Heartily recommended: Fisher so far has written riveting tales based on myth and history.”
