“I thought this book kinda stunk. I love the Monterey area, and this book kind of feel flat, no pun intended. Cannery Row is a masterpiece compared to this one. You can really tell that he wrote this book when he was still developing his style. Cannery Row came out when Steinbeck was at his peak.”
