    Guilty of Being GOOD!

From bestselling author Pamela Samuels Young comes a new Vernetta Henderson adventure involving a web of deceit - and leaves a trail of bodies. Evidence shows one possible murderer and motive. However, Vernetta discovers the roots of these crimes are buried deeper, down low.

Pamela Samuels Young takes readers on a wild ride with this legal thriller. She spins an intriguing tale of infidelity, lies, hate and murder. "Murder on the Down Low" hooks you from the opening page and doesn't let go until the last. "Murder on the Down Low" is a very good book. Kudos to Pamela Samuels Young.

    California Dreamin'

A cold-blooded killer appears to be targeting affluent African American males in the streets of L.A. So far the LAPD have several unsolved cases. J.C. Sparks, a detective, believes that the unsolved murders are somehow connected. While working an angle, she comes up with a reason why the men are being targeted. However, the lieutenant isn't ready to believe that it's plausible. Refusing to run the risk of embarrassing the department, a serial killer is granted the right to continue to run rampant serving his/her own form of justice.

Special Moore has vowed to extract revenge on Eugene Nelson. She's willing to do any and every thing to make him pay. Even if it's with his life! When Special's lawsuit and J.C.'s case begin to sound alike everyone becomes desperate to figure out the extenuating factors. With Special knee-deep in drama, there is no way Vernetta is going to allow her to sink. What will this do to her chances at O'Reilly and Finney?

MURDER ON THE DOWN LOW by Pamela Samuels Young is an intense eye-opener. I enjoyed the new characters, the well executed plot as well as the awareness about HIV/AIDS in the African American community. This is the third novel that I've read by this author, and as always, I'm looking forward to another legal thriller with her.

This is one of those books that make you stop and think. Pamela Samuels-Young has told a story that is intrigue and terrifying. I don't want to give to much away, but how would you handle being arrested for murdering some one you hated and wanted to see dead, but you didn't kill him? That's just one of the emotional roller coasters in the murder/mystery. I would recommend this page turner to anyone that loves Law and Order, The Practice or any other police drama.

    Suspense to the last drop

This book is my first read by this author and I was not disappointed. I love this book. Pamela brings it in this novel. Murder on down low was a fast pace murder mystery and a side story that tied directly to the murders going on in the book. This book had everything you could possible want in a thriller: murder, backstabbing, lying, deceiving, infidelity, revenge, strong black lead characters, strong sister bonds, healthy black relationship, bigotry, down low men, STD’s, twist and turns. What more could you ask for? The characters in this book will make you feel them, I felt like I was taking this journey with them. I understood their motives, their moods, their feelings as if I was living them myself.

I was following right along with this book and every time I thought I had the murderer figured out Pamela would throw a money wrench in the story and I had to rethink my thought process. On several occasions, I just knew who the murderer was and on several occasions, I was wrong. I have to say when the murderer was revealed I was stumped that person never entered my mind. Kudos to Pamela for bringing out the scent dogs to distract me and throwing me off track. I also commend her on doing her research that is very evident in this book, also with the links in the back of book where people can go for help. I look forward to more of this talented authors work in the near future. I also plan to pick up some of her previous work.

L.A. attorney, Vernetta Henderson is back for an all new case in this drama filled legal thriller titled Murder on the Down Low. Someone is killing successful business and family men. The police are clueless as to who has it out for these men. Vernetta and her partner, Special are helping to seek justice against a lawyer whose secret life has caused the murder of his girlfriend. What Vernetta and Special come to discover is that their case is connected to the murders.

Pamela Samuels Young likes to entertain her readers as well as educate them on important topics. Though I can’t say Ms. Young kept me entertained the whole though the book, I can say that she definitely educated me on the subject matter of men maintaining another life on the down low. Why for me I wasn’t interested in the story as I would have liked, is because I didn’t connect with the main characters and feel like I could really join in their world. If I can’t connect with the characters, then for me no matter how good a storyline a book has, I can lose interest really fast in the book. I do finish books that I have started but when this scenario happens, I kind of muddle along reading the rest of the book. I do have to say though that despite this fact with the characters, Murder on the Down Low was a pretty good book.

I'm always up for a mystery so when this book came to me for review I was excited to get started on it. Young is a new author for me and writes a mix of mystery/legal thriller. The story begins with the death of a wealthy, prominent African-American man and takes off from there. Early on we are shown that he is having an affair with another man but is married to a woman hence the term "down low". Before you know it there are a few more deaths and one of the detectives on the case is starting to think that they have a serial killer. Mix that up with four friends that are mourning the loss of their close friend Maya. Maya died from aids that she contracted from her husband who was also having a gay affair. All of a sudden it looks like the serial killer theory is more than a theory and that the killer is targeting men on the down low.
This was an interesting read for me. It started off a bit slow but before I knew it I was sucked into the characters lives and trying to figure out who the killer might be. The author took on the difficult issue of aids and homosexuality. I thought the author did a good job providing a lot of information and some fair viewpoints on the issues at hand. The ending took me by suprise as I didn't have a clue to who the killer was. All in all, an interesting read and I'm thankful to the author for sending me this to review.
