Liked It“Koryta is a great storyteller that fills his books with some very dark characters. This one will transport the reader off to the backwoods of Wisconsin where the players will clash in a classic battle of bloodletting and betrayal.” see full review » see other reviews » |
Didn’t Like It“If you like action movies you will find this book enjoyable - it's like an action book. Main character is smarter and better trained than the rest, seeking to serve his own form of justice. The bad guys are bad and law enforcement is not to be trusted. There is not much character development. *Yawn*” see full review » see other reviews » |

The story itself was good - it just got a little bogged down in the details. Funny though, all those extra words didn't really do much for character development - there were some fairly shallow characters floating through. All in all though, I finished it and I don't finish books I don't like. Despite being set more in the middle of the country, the setting has an Adirondack feel to it too... always a nice thing.”

Frank Temple III is the son of a U.S. Marshal. He was raised by his father in the art of defense and was weaponry to follow in the faily legacy. When Frank was 17 his father was revealed to be a contract killer and went on to commit suicide rather than face charges. Consequently, learning of his father's deception Frank's life falls apart and he becomes a drifter with no great sense of purpose.
Years later he receives a call from his father's best friend that the man who turned his father in is coming back to the cabin their families shared at one time. Frank takes action and realizes he must confront the man.
The back story is revealed slowly, but the action is fastpaced and suspenseful. The cast of characters is large and a bit confusing until the story of his father becomes a bit more clear.
Personally I enjoyed his others more, but still a great read.”
