“Being and Iranian who hasn't been to the US before it painted a perfect picture of those times and the lives of the Iranians and all the hardship they had to face but at the same time it gives you a sense of total joy and bliss just knowing how strong we were just as we are today!! it was a joyful journey!”

“I picked this up because it was a Big Read choice, but I found it disappointing. The essays weren't all that bad, but the author never really wrapped any of them up. She seemed to end every essay either too soon or too late. And the subjects of her essays weren't as poignant or eye-opening as I had hoped.”
