“This is the 3rd book in Deborah Cooke's Dragonfire series. The 3rd fateful Dragonfire for the Pyr is revealed and it is for Erik Sorensson this time. This is his 2nd time around, which is a rarity. But it turns out his first love has been reincarnated into the American college professor Eileen Grosvenor, who is in England researching a story that she is almost obsessed to find the meaning behind. Not knowing the story is related to Erik and her past life. The Dragonfire is what brings a Pyr to his intended mate, which will guarantee a new Pyr child. Pyr are dragonshifters who protect the world's resources, including mankind. Their enemies are Slayers, former Pyr who have turned against the ways of the Pyr and look at humankind as a vermin that should be wiped out. Eileen is brought to an English museum late one night to meet with an former college friend, who has some items she wants Eileen to look at, and these items (which are dragons' teeth) are something the Pyr and Slayers are both very interested in. This is when Erik and Eileen meet for the 1st time and she is face to face with both good and nasty dragons! I really enjoyed this story! Love the how and why the 2nd dragonfire happens to Erik, and how Eileen has been affected not knowing she had lived a previous life. There's a lot of action and intrigue and the secondary stories that take place with some of the other characters are just as compelling! This is a great continuation of the series, and I know there's one more in my TBR pile (Winter Kiss), I still need to pick up a copy of Whisper Kiss, the 5th book in the series!”Lynda T wrote this review Friday, September 9, 2011. “Interesting, dragon shapeshifters, prophesies, good dragons and bad dragons and female mortals playing important love interests.”shobhasri wrote this review Monday, March 7, 2011. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I was impressed by the number of well-developed sub-stories, some coming to completion, some leaving you knowing there will be more. Take away the fact that we are dealing with dragons here, and there is one great 'universal' read about sacrifice, love, war, good v evil...”Dianne wrote this review Wednesday, February 16, 2011. “This series simply gets better and better. I think this is the best of the 3 that I've read so far. (And dammit, I wish I could find the next book! I have it, but it's buried in one of my piles.) Erik's been one of the more intriguing Pyr that we've met to date. Though I think the romance between Erik and Eileen was great, the relationship I enjoyed reading about the most was the one between Erik and his son, who was a Slayer. Lots of action and plenty of romance, this one's a winner.
“I love this series!”Heather F wrote this review Friday, October 8, 2010. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“Enjoyed this book. It was recommended by a fellow friend on facebook. She described this style writing as urban fantasy. So I thought to give it a try. It was and enjoyable read and a fast pace book finished it within several hours .
For millennia, the shape-shifting dragon warriors known as the Pyr have commanded the four elements and guarded the earth’s treasures. But now the final reckoning between the Pyr, who count humans among the earth’s treasures, and the Slayers, who would eradicate both humans and the Pyr who protect them, is about to begin.
Haunted by dreams of a lover who takes the form of a dragon, Eileen Grosvenor searches for the truth. She never expects to find a real dragon shape shifter, let alone one who awakens her passion and ignites memories of a forgotten past.
Erik Sorensson is focused on leading the Pyr against the Slayers when a powerful ancient relic reveals itself. Erik tries to retrieve it from Eileen’s possession—and is shocked by a fury of passion. Her presence touches him in unexpected ways, reminding him of mistakes he’s determined not to make again, and Erik is forced to make a choice—duty or love.”

This is a wonderful third installment in the saga of the Pyr. We are treated to the leader of the Pyr’s firestorm with the reincarnation of his first mate. Erik is visited by Sophie, The Wyvern, who reveals his mate has been reborn into Eileen Grosvenor, Ph.D. Eileen has been called by her old college roommate to view a curious set of artifacts to help identify what they might have come from. What she finds is The Dragon’s Teeth that the Pyr have been searching for in order to build a Pyr army to fight the Slayers. While she is in the vault viewing them, Slayers arrive and slaughter her friend before her eyes. Luckily Erik arrives to save her and the teeth. Will Eileen be stronger than she was in her past life and accept Erik and his world?
This was an intense ride. Ms. Cooke has a great talent, letting the story unfold a little more in each book in this series. There were some deep tangible moments of emotion between Erik, Eileen, and Erik’s son, Sigmund. The plot is very cohesive and well thought out. Each mate has become a partner, not just a possession which I really like. Also, the Pyr and their mates are involved in the fight. They contribute to the struggle and don’t just show up because it is a series and thus expected. I would urge everyone, if you love paranormal romance in any way, this is a series you should be following.
