Tapscott spends several pages pointing out the problems with schools. I agree with some of his points, but am aware of the realities of the educational system in the US. I am a teacher. I can choose to make changes that make my classroom student-centered, and it usually is. However, I have administrators and parents who want to be able to look at a piece of paper and see exactly why a student got a particular grade. I also have students who want to be told exactly what to do, step by step, and when I don't, then they don't work.

I would love to get some input on how to use the Internet in classrooms, and allow the students to create their own learning opportunities. If you are a teacher, parent, or student, share your ideas about how the classroom can be different. Perhaps by beginning a dialog, we can generate some new, usable ideas.
