The history is fascinating. Did you know that the mob lured JFK to Cuab and comped him an orgy in which they all watched with a two way mirror. When he became president they all kicked themselves for not having filmed it to blackmail him. Well written and insightful.”

Many of the infamous names from that era (i.e. Meyer Lansky, Albert Anastasia, Frank Costello, Charles "Lucky Luciano) are brought to life by the author. Only a small amount of the story is devoted to Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, but what there is I found interesting. ”

There really were mobsters named Bugsy and Blue Eyes and they really put hits out on each other! This book was an eye-opener to me that what I assumed were legends that had reached mythic proportions were in fact historical people and places and facts.

“A unique take on the history of a fascinating city. The focus on how the Mafia got involved in Havana is clarified by Mr. English and puts a lot of myths to rest.”

T. J. English expertly, and necessarily, weaves the stories of the mob and the revolution together to create a thoroughly engrossing read that connects the dots so deliberately left unconnected for so many years. He leaves aside the demonization of any one of his true characters and, without pulling any punches, shows us flawed human beings and gives us greed, revenge and human failing as the ultimate culprits in the mess that is Cuba.”

His depiction of Meyer Lansky and other mobsters before and after Fidel Castro's "26th of July Movement" was spellbinding. ”
