Christopher Moore you rock! My god, how can you create so clever a story, with lots of shagging, and stay true to Shakespeare? A very fun romp!

LOVED IT! My two loves, Shakespeare and Moore, come together in this hysterically absurd novel about King Lear's Fool (while staying quite accurate to the play). "F*ck stockings!" Moore is brilliant and I hope he writes forever.

Hilarious. I didn't think I would like it but I was wrong. I love Christopher Moore. I love the shagging and wanking too.

Not Moore's best by far but very entertaining. The book is an ode of sorts to William Shakespeare's "King Lear." It's the tale of a fool who sets out to right the wrongs done by his king. The story is very fast paced and full of laughs, wit and sexual depravity. Moore is delightfully sick in the head.

Bawdy bard book entertains with its fearful symmetry. This book is funny, and no review I have read can escape the word bawdy. It is more than a retelling of Lear by the Fool with tongue in cheeks and hand on the um, er, throttle but actually provides analysis and criticism of the "original" Shakespeare play. If you know Lear well, you may enjoy this more than the passing Moore fan or, if you are hidebound in some pedantic dogma closet you may reject it. This literary rump romp riot of laughter will please the laughaholics.

if you haven't read king lear then this story might need a bit of research. its not so complex that you wouldn't get it, but the inside jokes and references seem funnier. next to lamb, one of moore's best works.

Not my favorite Moore title, it's an intersting take on Shakespeare's classic but not the best match for the author's subversive comic talent
