I've now read this book twice as well as several other books about writing and, although I still enjoy this one, it is not my favorite. She does however make a point to remind us why it is important to continue writing and she has some excellent practical advice for young writers.

Great book for writers, or want to be writers. Although it is brutally honest, and a little off the wall, it really is a true glimpse into a writers world. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to write or is an unpublished author. You will be inspired to keep writing.

A quirky read. Hilarious at times, though somewhat "draggy" in-the-between. There are things with regard to writing that I can "relate" with Ms. Lamott and there are also those I think were unnecessarily exaggerated. Was recommended by my friend's friend.

It's a great book for aspiring writers, especially for ones to write fiction or even a novel, who don't want to be lectured, instead really learn from real thoughts of a writer.

I think this is a fantastic writer's book. I love her writing, and especially the way she teaches about writing. I listened to one of her workshops on cassette and it was wonderful! I laughed AND cried!

She's funny! And she is a great writer who is good at disecting what she does for others. What a great set of skills. I want to read more of her books now.
