  Read this book because I received it as part of the gift back for the Bloody Words 2009 Conventions in Ottawa. I didn't particularly like the subject matter and I wasn't draw to the main character. I wondered why I was wasting my time reading this book each time I picked it up. I continued to read and finally decided I liked the main character and the book in the last chapter. I have learned a little about horse racing, about hanging in bars, about betting and about alcoholics. Probably didn't need to know any of the things I learned but you never know when it will come in handy.
  If you like horse racing or drinking or gambling or just want to read a well written book about human beings you won't waste your time with this one.”
