A groundbreaking book that every woman, especially, should read. The author, from his own childhood with a battered mom to his observations and work in the security business to high profile clients, comes to the conclusion that we all have instinctual signals when something is not right in a...

This book had its moments of slowness....but also moments that it read like a collection of short stories. He has interesting theories about not living your life in fear or always worrying about things, but instead just living your life 'aware' and in-tune to your intuitions. Some of the chapters don't seem to have much bearing for the common citizen (i.e. assassinations & stalkers of the rich & famous). I plan to read deBecker's second book, and I think I will read that one sporadically rather than all at once as I found myself getting bored at points and losing focus.

Practical advice for recognizing the difference between anxiety and true life-saving fear, and guidance for how to deal with truly fear-inspiring situations.

Filled with insight and intimate first-hand knowledge that may make you queasy. A must read for anyone who wants to survive in this dangerous country. Yes, let's not kid oursleves, the good ole U.S.A. is one of the most dangerous developed nations on earth. Especially good for women, who are even more at risk.
The bottom line take-away is to trust your instinct. It is based on sensory input and subconcious mental processing and is oh so much more than a hunch.

This was the most eye opening book. I've applied what I learned and it has been true to form and saved me from making a wrong decision.

Everyone should read this book that tells you to rely on your intuition and what to look for as far as body language, etc. Fear is indeed a gift. Trust yourself!
