The relationship between Han & Leia is given the roper treatment here, as an interesting new character, Prince Isolder of the Hapes Consortium, enters into battle with Han for Leia's hand in marriage. Han's reaction and the subsequent story are true examples of how great the EU novels can be, and classic villains like the Witches of Dathomir are great additions to the expanding galaxy of characters.”

However, the vast majority of the book was very weird and preoccupied with details about "witches" who use the Force. I would have preferred a book more like the Old Trilogy of movies. I also thought several characters were out of character numerous times (especially Leia and Han). There was also some implied inappropriateness with the "witches" taking "slaves." Also, some loose ends were not tied up. For example: If Luke's mechanical hand was damaged when Teneniel captured him, how could he fix it on an un-technological world like Dathomir? And (this especially bothered me), how in the world did Han not get in trouble with the New Republic for kidnapping Leia? So, I would probably not recommend this book.”

What a snoozer.”
“I read this book at a time that I was constantly thirsting for anything Star Wars. As a result, I enjoyed it strictly for the fact it talked about some of my favorite literary characters. Several years later, I look back and wonder what Mr. Wolverton was really trying to do. By the end of Return of the Jedi, it is very obvious that Han and Leia are crazy about each other. To try and suggest that Han Solo may actually lose Leia to a character that we don't even know is kind of silly.”
