“Ms. Ibbotson writes for children, but many adults will find her fantasy books captivating, a bit the way adults are reading Harry Potter. My favorite is Which Witch?, the story of a famous wizard who is trying to hold a contest to find his future wife, so that he can finally have a baby and get an heir. The one of the group who has fallen in love with him is, unfortunately, a white witch, while his contest was designed to find the darkest witch of them all. Through some plotting and scheming, the white witch's friends (including the wizard's secretary) attempt to make her trick the darkest of them all, to get the two of them together, since everyone knows that's what they both most want and need. It's all very entertaining, a good book to read to or with kids.”
