The trip at first seems boring, but by the end they are caught up in a battle for a heard of cows. ”

This book would have been a fun read without his artistry, but with it, it is a charming and captivating listen. I'm glad I hadn't read the editorial review on this page before I listened, because the big twist of the story came as a huge surprise to me and I won't spoil it for anyone else in case they only read this review and nothing else on the page! I'll just say it starts off as a standard, garden-variety kids book where Mom & Dad go off for a few months leaving the children in the care of the eccentric relatives, then about 1/3 of the way in, takes a huge twist which made me perk up my ears and grin hugely. From there to the end it was pure magic. Highly recommended.”
